Default C3 console switch?

I'm a newbie, just bought my first vette, 1974 coupe. I am about
80 percent done removing the entire interior for restoration. I have
a rocker switch with an inline fuse, driver's side front lower console
cover. I haven't been able to figure out what it's for. I was
looking at images of interior restorations and I've seen it on several
corvettes and i'm wondering if that's factory and what the heck it
goes to. If anyone knows.

Thanks

Dave

Hi Dave,
Welcome! First Post!
Your first Corvette; GREAT!
If you're going to be doing some tinkering with it you might consider buying a couple of things that will be a help to you.
First, if you don't have one, the 'Owner's Manual' that came in the glove box of each car. (It would have identified the switch and defroster for you).
Second, the G.M.'74 Chassis Service Manual'. This was used at the dealerships by the service techs and have sections for each part and function of the car.
Third, the '74 Assembly Instruction Manual' (AIM). This book contains the engineering drawings that were done to be a guide for building the car on the production line in St.Louis.
These won't answer 'every' question you have as you get to know your car but will help a lot!
There all available from some of the vendors listed on this page. Try ZIP, Corvette Central, and Paragon Reproductions.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

How about a couple of pictures???

thanks guys, that actually also answers the question "why the hell is there a blower in the back of my vette that comes on every time i turn on the key." Appreciate the advice, i bought a "chilton" style book when i was at oreillys, but it's pretty generic.

I totally agree with Alan....I find myself at the kitchen table with my AIM book open. I stumble upon all sorts of info that I need. It is one of the best sources for you to understand how they built your car, notes they had, and special routing of things. The vacuum diagrams alone are worth the $29! And yeah, how about a couple of pics of your new source of frustration/ultimate joy?
