Default Good to be back, must read

Hey Folks!

After being out of the corvette world for 7 years due to a tragic accident I'm back. The last corvette I had I disconnected the fuel line to do some fixing overnight. Well the fumes leaked out into the garage and attack. At about 03:00 am my frig turned on and the house blew up! My wife, mother and me barely got out before the whole house went up in flames. This is a warning if you smell gas in your garage don't think nothing can happen, immediately get the car out and fix the problem. We lost everything we ever owned.

Well I'm happy to say I am ready to get back into it. Do you think $20,000 can buy a good driver in the 68-72 range?

I didn't think the fumes would leak out....But what I really want to know is if a $20,000 budget is good for a no rust car.

If you're patient. It's been 7 years since your last Corvette. Take your time and search and inspect carefully. I think you will find a nice Corvette with that budget unless you're looking for something special or NCRS perfect.

You can definitely find a car in that price range. Likely just under the 20k depending on which chrome bumper car you find and with what options.

Here's a site I like to frequent just to get a quick fix on what's out there at any given moment. http://www.usedcorvettesforsale.com/c3-corvettes/
There's a nice white 68 several cars down the list. Just an example of a nice starting point.

I'm glad all turned out well for you. I bought my 72 from a broker from thevettenet for $16,500.00. The owners wanted 18,500. See below link. The guy I used was Ken. Great guy to work with.

Here's one in your price range, might be able to talk them down a little.

What's the deal with the second car linked above? In the video you can see there are a lot of holes in the passenger door, but in the photos it seems like they do a pretty good job of not showing that part. Knowing they are there, you can kind of see them in one or two shots, but otherwise I would not have really noticed them. Kind of makes me wonder what else is going on with that car.

It appears to be holes from the side view mirror that was once there. It's defiantly a car I would negotiate down.

Five holes in a row? Seems odd. I wondered why they did not stick the rally caps on it for the photos. It would have shown better that way, but not a big deal.

Looks like they were trying to put sport mirrors and just guessing where it goes.. maybe by the third try they got it in the right spot....

That is odd. This could be a bargaining tool I would use to drop the price. I got mine down from 18,890 to 16,500. It depends on what he's looking for. The pick also shows he removed the wiper door for a long L88 hood.

Like they say, measure once, twice or even three times before drilling.

At first I thought that it might have been a camera car for movies! Lou.
