A DVD with a table of contents and a quick search bar would be worth more than half the parts that actually go on the car! I would also purchase said DVD for more than fair price. Now to find the tech gurus out there that could assist him in making this piece of corvette restoration gold...
I just don't know how he manages to find them so quickly.
I've got a some pics of my stuff (not like Alan's stuff) and their in some different folders but still seems a hunt to find one when I do need one.
I'd be happy just to see how he indexes his

I think Alan71 is a digital program the corvette forum put together and has every picture indexed by key words to automatically present upon mention. That explains why when he (digital program) responds to a post, it only picks up the first letter or two of the OP's forum name. The forum hasn't figured out how to nail that part of the program down yet with a software patch. He has referred to me as "H" before. Just thankful it wasn't "HO."
Seriously, Alan has helped me out on various occasions but like others have said, just cruising the forum, he is seen helping everyone. Each time someone asks for a photograph, it's almost like a game to quickly scroll to see if Alan has hit yet with a pic along with the knowledge that goes along with it. Put him on a pedestal?? Yea, has my vote!
Alan71, here's a virtual handshake and a thank you for the help you give me and others. Your gentlemanly attitude and willingness to help with pictures and information shows your true character.
.....and what's that other old saying???? It takes one to know one.....
Was I referring to you? Must have missed your prior post.....
Before you jump to any further assumptions, I've have been a supporter of Roger all along. He is quite well aware of that!
There was no need to air his dirty laundry here, and should have kept his opinion to himself. IMO, this place could use 100 more men like Alan! Do you know the man personally? Well, I do, and I will stand up for him any day of the week...
We are all adults and its a fact of life you are not going to like everyone. I am new to forum and really don't know anyone here. I can see by all the posts that Alan has clearly helped many people here and its nice they are posting that appreciation. I don't understand the need to voice dislike for anyone. What is the point in that? Why be negative it serves no purpose.
As for what Alan offers to the Corvette Forum is undeniable. Those people who need to 'see it' to understand it...he comes through many times. NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT!
On one occasion I can remember he had come to my defense in a post where I was getting hammered due to my PASSIONATE responses...and basically stated....maybe not his exact words..but the point is the same.....that learning and increasing your ability is what a person should strive do. Often times I will comment in a way where a repair can be taken to a higher level and not always get a positive response....which is fine by me. It was nice to have someone understand that is all I want to do. AND this does NOT mean that others have not done the SAME...they have....SO...do not think that I do not appreciate it....and you are not forgotten.
As for Roger (rvzio) or anyone else who has a different view or opinion...I am all for who ever it is being able to comment as they choose. I am aware of the issue between Alan and Roger. And Roger can write as he chooses for the responses he received...even if other people feel that he is wrong in doing so.
And as how I commented on Alan...I can do the same for what Roger is offering many people in his thread on the restoration of his 1969. Many people follow him and he gives them inspiration to do their car. SO...lets not forget that. And as I wrote in his thread....HE is a RARE ONE!...meaning I have dealt with a lot of people...here on the forum and in my town. And Roger has a level of dedication and doing what needs to be done that does not waver. So he gets an applause from me on that. Many times when the going get tough...many people fold in and throw in the towel....and do half @ss work when they get to the end.
Just my thoughts on this......BOTH are needed to help all of us.
I can't believe it! Earlier today I sent a couple photos of interior trim to another forum member and Alan71 had a helpful photo of the same trim piece (better photo than mine) ready and waiting. I was wondering also if he had ever thought of publishing an electronic reference document for us to use. It would be worth big $$$ compared to some of the half-hearted restoration books out there. For those on the forum who have actually met him, see if he can be convinced to let someone compile the photos and publish them with some per-use charge to cover his man hours taking the photos.
