I'm attempting to rewire my "new" 69 vet and for the life of me can't determine where the double black wire listed in this picture as "To Console Ground" attaches. It's next to the cigarette reflector. Any advise?
Hi w,
I believe you'll find a single 'spade terminal' screwed to the right side of the heater/defroster controller for that ground connection.
In the 71 AIM it shown as View A on UPC 12 Sheet B2, Instrument Cluster, Clock,& Cig. Lighter.
Look for a similar page in your 69 AIM. It's 3 pages after the page you show in my AIM.
Regards,
Alan
It's this in 71.
The AIM shows a 'plastic' connector but there isn't one on the harness.
Hi w,
The spade was screwed on to the side plate of the controller with a single hex head machine screw.
Maybe look for a hole with nothing in it as a clue to where it was?
Regards,
Alan
Here's another view showing it's position and screw.
Don't see the "spade" so I'll have to keep looking. Thanks for responding
wyniae- when I did my console I found the PO had removed the male spade connector from this location as well as a few other places on the car. You can find generic spade connectors at most auto parts stores. As a last resort, you can confirm with a test light that a metal location is actually grounded and add your own spade connector to that site.
