Date Code Confirmation - All Jacked Up
I have two (2) jacks I have located in and among my various spare parts and I think I have identified them correctly but wanted to bounce it off you here to confirm.
One carries the code 627 which I am assuming is the 27th week of 1976 which would be the week of June 28-July 2nd. Productions after June which ended with 40830 or so, I am guessing.
The second one carries the code 640 which I am again assuming means the 40th week of 1976 which would be the week of September 27-October 1 which if I read it correctly would have made this one used most likely in a very early 1977.
Anyway, I would like to tag these and put one on my shelf marked reserve, and one on my shelf marked "road racer" for my future Road Shark car, I would just like to get the dates verified if possible.

A 1997 article in the NCRS Restorer first revealed the transition of date code formats pre-1976 and then 1976 through 1979 jacks and correlates to jacks pulled from low-mileage, NCRS judged Corvettes. The later date code is interpreted as first digit - year while last two digits represent the week as you speculated. A link to the 1997 article is below
Your guess is correct. The 627 indicates a jack assembled 27nd week of 1976.
