i have a 73 L-82 i need a rear leaf spring need help i dont want it to sit high looking for stock ride high what spring metal or composite ? and my spring is 9 leaf i was thinking going to 7 for better handling? were to buy it thanks
I just replaced my stock 9 leaf spring on my '73 with a 9 leaf steel spring from Willcox Corvette. I am pleased with the quality and the ride height is about one inch higher with the new spring.
I ended up with the VBP 330#. Started with the Hyperco that I bought via Van Steel. The rear ride height was way high and 10" bolts were suggested to bring it down. Not to my liking and the Van Steel folks were most accommodating in swapping it for the VBP piece. With it the car rides and looks great.
One point if you go composite yo will need some good shocks to go with. Bilsteins are the typical choice.
I'm still planning on removing the top two leaves from my spring package in order to soften the ride and lower the car slightly... unless someone has a really good reason not to??
