need some advise

1a. Repair bumper, blend and buff existing paint and get the car in good driving condition and sell as a survivor. The low miles, 454 and 4spd will attract buyers. Then buy a chromey!
1b. Same as 1a but sell as is.
2. Fully restore it and keep and enjoy with minor upgrades like you suggested; wheels etc. and enjoy it in memory of your dad!
Me? I would go option #2. Good luck with whatever decision you make.

I would be willing to sell you the car. But I just went through a similar request with another member. I'm not fully sure what this car should be sold for. He offered me 8-10k. Truthfully I found that to be an insulting offer. My buddy that works at chevy has personally offered 15k, and I know his motive is to restore it and sell it for a nice profit. As that's his side business. Now I know he won't restore a car unless he makes a min of 10k.
If you are seriously interested. We can talk further. However if you going to comin in with a low offer, it simply won't work.
I do know this car is some what of a special combo. Last year of 454. 4 on the floor. Vert. Ac. Tilt stering. It has it all. Fully optioned out. And it's got 29k original miles. It does need a restoration. But it's a hell of a base to start with. Pm or email me if your serious. Drrobbio87@yahoo.com

I am agreeing with your #2 option. It's an awesome car, I think I'll just have to pick up a chromey down the line. Add it to the collection in due time...
If I can sell as-is for enough, I would do it. My dad is still with us, thankfully. And he would be part of a new one.

Sounds like a fine plan..I have a C5 as well and part owner of a 67 coupe project. There is never too many.

It's either to restore the 74 with minor upgrades. Just to make it a more fun driver. Realistically oem didn't offer a ton of power or handling.
Or sell it and replace it with a true chromey.
I have to say I feel like I'm going to start ordering parts to begin the resto. I do appreciate and value that its my dad's. That might just be the best reason of all to keep it. He likes the chromeis quite a bit also. But he did drive this one off the factory floor. The nostalgia behind it is pretty cool.
If the right buyer came along. A deal could be made. As of now it's not listed anywhere. I just have a hard time listening to these low ball offers.

"It's not personal... It's strictly business."
A really, really nice '74 454 convertible with all the options sold on this forum last year for $25,000. The going rate on these cars seems to be in the $30,000 range... Maybe more for the right color combination/documentation. You might be able to make a few dollars if you fix the bumper covers and clean the car up a bit, but you aren't going to restore a car you paid $15,000 for, plus the cost of the restoration, plus make a $10,000 profit... Not to mention what you value your time at.
