I think they are concerned with the glass nipple for the fiber optics. Not just a replacement bulb.
some brands don't have it.

All the bulbs I ever looked at had it. But there's not to many manufactures of sealed beam headlights

The glass nub on the back for fibre optics is in fact difficult to find in some areas, including mine. I wouldn't have asked otherwise.

today I took everything apart and could see the rings definitely have to be tweaked to get everything fitted .I decided to get the rest of the bushings done. most of my pins seemed to be seized although the headlights work. I also wanted to clean up the rusty headlight cups so they look more like Alan's

???
Could you 'pad-out' the rear of the buckets with something to make the lamps fit more snuggly?

Standing looking at the front of the car I believe the sequence is:
C B D A.

Here's an example what to look for:

Perhaps you'll spot something here that's different than the way your headlamps are mounted.
does that make me Bubba JR. I actually had to do that on one of the cups. mine don't have the letters on them. the bulb will only fit in one way facing up with the spring connection orientation. I did have one ring that fit very tightly almost had to press it on. all of the others and the repro I bought fit very loose. I used a 3 small sections of rubber door insulation to pad the bulbs. I also removed and replaced all the headlight bushings, the pins if needed. cleaned and painted everything. now I just have to get everything back in the car and do the other side
