Default Modifying a T Top

My inside headliners are shot on my T roofs. Has anyone left them out, removed the stands that they are attached to and then use headliner material to cover the inside. Cheaper than buying the headliners and more headroom. I thought I saw a picture on here that someone did that.

I am in the process of doing the same thing for a Corvette that will be a drag car. Knowing that the car I am working on will be stickily OFF ROAD...I do not have to worry about someones head hitting the top without any type of padding because the T-top liner is removed.

Possibly consider using some of the dense Styrofoam as a protector and then apply the padded headliner material. AND...not knowing if you know this or not....but GM uses Velcro to hold the headliners in on the painted 1984-1996 Corvette Targa roof panels.....SO...you can possibly employ this design as long as you KNOW that the Velcro will not detach. That way...you can wrap 'something' and then put it in place and have to hold with the Velcro.
