I just purchased a NOS set of big block plug wires in original red white and blue Delco box There is no date code I can see and they have an eye let on one of the braded end and the other end has a slide clip .Are these correct plug wires for a '70 big block # on box is Gr.2.239 0521E9
thanks
Wes
I don't have a parts book near by to check right now, but if the spark plug end of the wires, have a clip on them, they sound like 65-66 wires. 67-74 wires have an eyelet on both ends.
The 65-66 wires ground to the spark plug barrels with a clip.

The old GM part number was 8912284 and the Delco short number was 458w. The clip/loop style would make these for a 1965 1966 car where the clip grounded on the spark plug heat shield.
Back in the late 80's & 90's before Lectric Limited started making the reproduction wires I found the original clips. So I used to buy the 458w wire sets cut off the loop and crimp on the clip needed to make them authentic for the 65-66 cars so it's possible that you may have a set of those wires. We would sell these at Bloomington by the case loads...
What part number is on the box... and more important, it is possible there is a date code on the box which would included a plant number and date. So look at the box closely for something like 76D2 (where the 76 was the plant D was the month and 2 the year). The only issue with the box codes would be knowing the look of the box to decide if the code was 1972 1982 1992... and so on.
