Default Engine Harness - Tape Wrap

Gonna be doing some planned under hood detailing. I'd like to unwrap some of the harness tape, clean the wires, and rewrap the wiring.

I know electrical tape is the wrong tape. Don't want to use the plastic look. Like to replicate the factory look. Do any of the Corvette supply houses sell the correct factory type tape? Also tips from anyone on how to properly rewrap the harness would be appreciated. Thanks. Dino.

Hi D,
Yes, many of the suppliers sell the original type harness wrap.
It has no adhesive on it and clings to itself.
I find that actually stretching the tape just slightly as I wrap seems to increase it's 'cling'.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan and for the tip on the slight stretch. I'll try and replicate the overlap as well. I'm guessing it's 50% overlap maybe more. All done by hand back in the day I'm sure. I'll check Wilcox. Thought it might be an electrical supply specialty item.

On the clip note, I replaced some harness clips around the front nose surround by the hood opening years ago. Some of mine were missing. I got them from Eklers I believe. They were a plastic type with a push in nipple that goes into the mount after looping it around the harness. Was Very brittle plastic and most of them cracked almost right away when looping the harness. Hopefully this manufacturing issue has been resolved because I need to order some more. Those ones were too brittle for the intended application and a waste of money.

Lectric Limited carries the tape as well.
