If oil is so cheap and plentiful why they still have to add it . Why not just feed it to cows and bring those prices down. I use only ethanol free in boats, mowers etc.
We can buy the EO OR CLEAR Gas At selected station here in Oregon..my Corvette is an F$* #350..withe aell truned original Quadrajet...
Do a search on EO Ethanol free gas where you live or plan to travel with your carbureted engine...
Plenty of data is availble from reliable souces concerning the problems with ethanol in motors,
As a note I also add 100% acetone drug store not the hdw stuff..Do a good search on acetone added to gasoline..you'll be surprised..
o my fuel mix on fillup..About 3-5%..ADDS 5-15 mpg for notiorously poor gas mileage.cars and doesn't damage anything..Just makes your 92-93 octane gasoline burn more completely..Does NOT chnge performance..If your engine, etc are rightALL you will experience is bettewr fuel efficiency..Jim
Jim,
THANKS for the post..I looked it up and read quite a lot of discussions about this. VERY INTERESTING. THANKS again for posting this.

More than likely...what they are adding to our fuel is stuff that can not feed to cattle...due to being genetically modified. And they have to find some place to use it....and make a buck at the same time.

I don't know if that's true or not, but even if it is; the land that was wasted growing that corn could have been used to grow corn for food. Or Hemp that is a much better source of fuel. :-)
I live in Iowa and my state makes a lot of money from the sale of ethanol but we are not forced to buy it. I don't put it in anything I own.
This guys has some cars and seems to agree: http://autoweek.com/article/car-life...-hates-ethanol
I use non-ethanol in my 82. I buy it from QT gas stations in SC which I believe is only 87 octane, but I just and add an octane booster like STP.....it runs great.
For you guys with no non-ethanol stations, they make an ethanol treatment you can pick up at walmart or parts house. Not sure how well it works though?

We shouldn't use corn to make ethanol, but that's politics for you. Certain words make certain people feel all warm and fuzzy, and "renewable" is one of them.
Remember when we were going to "run out" of crude oil? We've know how to make liquid fuels from methane and coal for decades. It scared the lemmings enough to get us all to drive 55 mph for a long time.....

Certain fuel treatments work by preventing the alcohol from separating from the gasoline. This is helpful because you don't want to be pulling an ethanol/water mixture off the bottom of the tank.
I use Amsoil fuel treatment because they publish their results done by independent labs, but this does not mean the Walmart additive will not work.
A few years ago I replaced a leaky gas tank in my 69 corvette. The Corvette repair facility told me the tank had rusted from the inside, and they were seeing a lot more of this type on thing since we the ethanol blends came along.
You can purchase 5 gallon containers of leaded Race Fuel with 110 octane at Sunoco stations. I add this to 10 gallons of ethanol free 93 octane. It makes your engine very happy and you will definitely feel the difference driving!

I only burn ethanol blend in my everyday DDs'. All my lawn power equipment, Honda ATCs', boat and toys get premium. Never any problems. I hate ethanol.

The local small engine repair shop recommended exactly that. Premium in lawn equipment and power sports motors with stabil for ethanol. Wish this stupid fuel subsidy program would go away.

They could just put the alcohol in...say.. alcohol? Maybe sell it as some new designer boutique vodka bourbon made from corn. Call it Hillbilly Heaven or something. Sell it at some new fancy bar for all those millennial generation kids. They buy anything that says " gluten free, free range, organic " on it. Just slap a fancy label on it and ship it to Whole Foods or Trader Joes.
Just dont put it in my gas!!!!

I can't get Ethanol Free fuel near me. I have been using Star Tron for the past couple of years and it's made a difference in how the car runs as well as all my yard toys. Plus it helped with fuel boil.
In North Carolina & South Carolina the premium Non-Ethanol was 93 octane . Now the local stations have reduce it to 90 octane. Has anyone seen this and is this an industry change?

Corn is what moonshine is made of. Better drunk than burnt. Better in the stomach than in the tank.
