I resently bought a 1968 corvette and I've been going through it and I noticed on the passenger side dash there is this piece of metal with some wires coming out of it. Any ideas on what it is?
I agree. Looks like a mounting bracket of some type. Where does the wiring lead to? The real shame is that it looks like you are going to have left over mounting holes in a one-year-only dash pad. Bummer.

Nothing like that on my early 68. Maybe remove the pad and see if the wires are original or not. If they are you may be able to see what he was doing. If there's splices just remove and cap them. You may find a dash pad later on down the line to replace yours if the holes bother you. Maybe some patching and trim dye could help.
Welcome to the joys of the 68. Is yours late or early build. Mines an oct 67 build. Doesnt have a few things like the wiper override lamp, different convertible release hardware. A few other things that are different in the AIM I dont recall all of them
