Default Direct Lift Question

What is the maximum width of a vehicle that can drive under the Direct 4 post lift model # PP8S? I believe the maximum width is 94" therefore the distance between the inside posts would be 94"?

Thanks

http://www.directlift.com/Four-Post-...ard-P44C9.aspx

Says "DRIVE THRU" width is 80 1/2" I assume on ramps. There are gusset plates that limit the drive on width.

Inside to Inside of columns is 94" so anything narrower than that would drive under I guess. There are base plates on the columns but I did not bolt it to the floor. I would recommend NOT driving on the base plates for fear of pulling the columns in with load on them.

BTW...I have one that model and LOVE it. Very well built for the money.

Thanks for the reply Dean, I believe my daily driver is approximately 84" at the side view mirrors, but I'll have to double check as I'm going off memory. If so does this mean it will be able to park underneath but not onto the ramps?

84" will clear thru the columns no problem. Also sounds like it will fit just fine ON the ramps as well. I would go for it. You will not regret the purchase. Wish I had bought mine years ago.

The only restriction in the PPS model is weight and length. It will not lift a full size dually truck. Nor would I try to lift a 1 ton truck....other than that I think your good.

What is your daily driver? I could measure my lift if you need a certain measurement.

Daily Driver is a 09 Toyota Avalon XLS, but in checking the online spec, I don't think they're including the side view mirrors. I'll check the exact dimension this evening.

My 2012 Highlander can go under it.

Can go on the ramps as well.

An Avalon should be no problem.

You should also look at the liftsuperstore lifts as well for comparison, if you haven't already.

I checked the overall width from side mirror to mirror and it's 84" on the Avalon. I also noticed the info on the lift as "Clearance Between Columns 94" Drive through width 80-1/2" ". If the clearance between columns is 94" then there is 5" on each side which is great, but what does the "drive through measurement mean?

I believe the liftsuperstore lifts are located in Oakville which isn't far but also noticed they're a bit more expensive. Which model directly compares to the PPS8 so I can compare more on an equal basis?

Yes, they have a showroom in Oakville. Probably worthwhile for you to go look.

I think the Quatro-Stacker DX 8,000 is the comparable model.

I have a direct lift pro park 8 plus and a restomod stacker XL 9000lb from the lift superstore.

For storing cars, they are both about equal.

For working on cars, the restomod is much better. The distance between the ramps is larger, giving you more access underneath.

Also, the restomod I bought is a 220V, the direct lift is 110V. If I remember, there was no extra charge for 220V form liftsuperstore, but there was from direct lift.

The difference is in lifting speed...the restomod lift raises up much faster than the direct lift. Doesn't seem like a big deal, until you're working on a car and have to raise and lower a few times. The direct lift seems to take forever once you have the restomod.

Hope this helps
