Just finishing up a body off and I've reinstalled the hood latches on the firewall and hood. How are members lining up the latches on the firewall.
I thought I read mention to leave the firewall latches finger tight and close the hood slowly, but to also MacGyver a string to the hood latch incase the cable release is not adjusted properly. This way you can manually pull on the cable. Does anyone have a photo of this as I'm not sure how to rig this up?
No pics but did this 2 summers ago. I tied the string on the cable close to the latches and let it dangle to the garage floor. Cleaned the latches and put white grease on them just to make sure they moved freely. I had marked the hood before I took everything off, only had to pull on the string once due to forgetting to screw the center cable holder in so it would not release.
I just took hood off so my release cable was not going to be an issue. I just went very slow with a friends help. Started with them barely tightened down in the old position and eased the hood down 2-3 times shifting it a little here and there. Took about 20 minutes start to finish.
