Default New Tow Hook

Hi guys

As many know, the factory so called tow hook is a pile of crap. Every time I winched the car on the trailer it got twisted and about tore off. So I took the car over to brother Paul's today and we cut it off, reinforced and made a nice tow loop. Also a new bracket to support the front nose.

Put the car back on the trailer or it works stellar.

I will bed line coat it later this week, and it will be sano.

I thought Id share this along with some photos.

Every performance car needs one !

Cheers Dale

FWIW: there was no factory tow hook. The most ya got was a couple of tie down locations for the transporter.

Nice work.

Hi Mike

I hear yah, they should have never had the oval loop behind the lower curb guard. That thing was marginal at best even as a transporter tie down.

I like winching my car on the trailer since its a manual, now its set up the way it should be.

Thanks D

What are you talking about. Unless something changed after 77, there is nothing on the front air dam area that should or was designed to be used as a strapping point or tow hook. At least not on my 77.

Yes there is on a 1980 + behind the curb protector that hangs down a bit. I have the cut off piece, and if I remember I will take a photo of it and post it here.
