Default Pedal Cleanup and Trim - Finished

Another "why is this taking so long to get back on the road" thread
(actually this was done awhile ago, just got to finish installing for good this weekend)

Countless hours on a $10 piece of trim. I'm sure someone will start selling these any day now....

I had installed the newer LONG style gas pedal years ago, mainly since it had the stainless trim and I like shiny things

But of course it never really fit the hump/carpet area 100%, I guess something changed ever so slightly in that area. So anyway I wanted to go back to the original short pedal, but still wanted the trim, which they don't make....

Well, everyone knows where this is going by now...

One shot set of male/female dies

Hydraulic press and some rough trimming

Some thin milling (thin stainless is just a pain)

More trimming and some polishing

Here's the difference in size between the short and long styles

Anyway, cleaned and powder coated everything else

One way or another, closer than I was two days ago...

That looks real nice. You did a great job. Should help the car stand out a little.

Tell me about it! Making a "Part" using thin metal is hard enough........

Making a DIE SET in order to make the part is OUTSTANDING!

I'm guessing Mooser has $100 worth of die and trim metal involved, and $1,900 of shop labor involved.......that adds up to...................................... .

$2,000 for the polished stainless pedal trim

Very nice. On my 72 I switched to the larger peddle because I like the trim but I would rather have the short one with the trim!!!

Thanks Alan but either of those seem to be in pretty short supply for me lately.
Wish I had more at my disposal any given day

Please remove your shoes when you drive your car! That's too good for dirt.

I'm pretty sure mine's had more miles going up and down rather than forward/reverse the past few years

Great job on the pedal trim. My problem is with the brake pedal. I cut the inch off the right side, and used a standard (shorter) pad from the mid 60s truck.... so now my brake pedal has no trim.
It was a great mod though, and necessary to get my big foot off the gas and onto the brake.

The cost of doing any this way would be absurd. I can't even afford to make the one I made me and I don't pay myself anything

That`s the way it is with "one-off" type custom fabrications! But they look fabulous when they`re done!
