black smoke drivers side
1970 454 bb
hi guys
just rebuilt carb ,but rebuilt because it was running too rich and couldn't seem to set it up anyway just installed it and I have the same problem masses of black unburned fuel coming out of drivers side exhaust I have just changed the distributor cap coil and wires to be safe .I have to be honest I am gutted , any ideas? don't mind working on the car but it would have been nice to at least enjoy it a couple of times before I start.

Since you've only had the car for a brief time….when did this smoke and un-burned fuel become an issue?
Before you tried to adjust the carb?
You say that you changed the cap/coil/plug wires… did you check the condition of the spark plugs? are they firing?

Is it blowing black smoke while driving or sitting in the garage .If it is sitting in the garage and blowing black it sounds like your idle mixture to rich or choke stuck on if while driving you might have to re jet your carb.
