Default Odd Finding - Anybody Have Input?

I bought a 1975 coupe yesterday and was assessing it and taking pictures when this anomaly showed up so I thought I would ask.

The build sheet says this car did not have A/C in the build.
The engine bay, however, has this valve in the heater lines.

Isn't this a heater shut off valve for an A/C car?
My 72 sparty with a/c has this valve but the 72 coupe w/o a/c did not.
Did they put it in all cars after 72?

I am confused.

Any ideas that may help?

I don't think they were used at all on '72's

Yes Chuck, but I was able to solve that mystery on the pulley from the 75 AIM.

Second pulley was used for A.I.R. pump which was removed from this car, but I still have it here with the parts.

From the pulley setup it appears that nothing out of the ordinary here for a power steering, power brake, non air conditioned car.

Isn't the water valve still required to shut off hot coolant going to the heater core whether you have A/C or not?

FWIW: check the 75 AIM for the installation of the shut off valve. If it's factory, the AIM will show it.
