This looks simple-but its got me stopped! I can't figure out how the retainer pieces fit with/or next to the rear quarter panel trim piece. I have attached pictures of the pieces. This is for a 1972, LS-5 vert.
The first picture is the mounting "flange" on the door jamb. The second is the back side of the trim piece this goes on the flange and also screws onto a little piece behind the seat. The third is of the two pieces that interface with the flange, and the trim piece---some how!?
There are different piece of each side, and I am sure have the sides correct. I have googled it, and you-tubed it, and my body book doesn't show a use full thing about it!
The trim pieces have a left and a right side. The long piece goes on first with the shorter, curved piece, overlapping that. The plastic trim is put in position, the trim pieces placed on the fiberglass flange and the pieces are held together with the short Phillips head screws. DO NOT over tighten the screws!
The trim pieces go on the outside and screw into the threaded holes in your plastic panels but the holes in the jambs should be just round holes to keep the panels from sliding forward . Someone has slotted them on your car . It will still work as long as they are tight , but don't overtighten them or you will strip the threads or cause the threaded inserts to pull out.
That was not the easiest of jobs for me on this car! MANY MANY THANKS to all who helped!
None of the radius of the pieces matched, and the screw holes were all filled with gunk and stuff. Had to re tap them all...But its on, now Ill spend some time getting it "dressed" out...
AGAIN THANKS!!!!!!!!
This is what make this a GREAT forum to hang out on and to get and give help!!!!!!!!!
