Took the vette for a quick ride last night, hit a bump and something sounded wrong. After further inspection it seems a baffle inside the drivers side muffler has come loose. These were on the car and in good shape. I thought he whole system was Gibson as the chrome tips said Gibson. So I started to look up new mufflers. Upon deeper inspection it appears we have flow master mufflers with Gibson tips. Doesn't surprise me. Now I Love the deep throaty sound we have now. So I could easily just order the same mufflers. My question is will the Gibson be any better or more importantly sound as deep?
This probably isn't as helpful as you'd like, but from what I've seen, over the years, Gibson appears to be primarily a maker of truck exhaust systems........

I am a Magnaflow fan...have them on both the C3 and C5!

I have Gibsons on my F-150. They sound very good. Pretty comparable "sound-wise" to my Flowmaster 50 Deltaflows, (but they are about twice as long). I wasn't aware they made car mufflers.... good to know..
The F-150 has the 4.6 liter / 5-Speed manual with Gibson headers, performance cam, some head and intake porting. It sounds healthy, not "Truck-Like", but I still prefer the flowmasters just a "teeny bit" better.
The Gibsons mufflers and headers (just steel) have lasted since 2000 and the truck has 224,000 miles now so I'm pleased with how long they lasted. The headers are just starting to rot in the collector area now and are due for replacement. I did the cam, lifters, head and intake work around 60K miles so I'm also pleased with how long the "little 4.6 liter I didn't want" has lasted ! (But that's a topic for the F-150 forum.....

I have had Gibson duals on my 16 year old 99 Silverado and they sound awesome with very little drone at Highway cruising speeds. Steel too and has held up well, but in the Vette I run Flowmasters 40 series. Flowmasters in my option are louder than the Gibson mufflers at all sound levels. Both are good products so you will be happy with both but the Flowmasters will have the rumble your looking for
Thanks for all the info, I have decided to stay with the flow masters. Found a good local shop that will weld it up real nice and keep the system nice and clean. Have a Happy 4th
