Dash cam opinions
Im thinking about a dash cam this fall. What models do you guys like? My co pilot filmed a recent ride with his sunglass cammera but its where he was looking, not where the car was going. Also where did you mount it. On the dash, upper visor or behind the seats on the top lid? And how to post them here with the youtube link. I cant get that right.

Been running one in my daily driver for the past 3 years. You are definitely limited when mounting in your vette. The windshield is small and most of them need a power cord ran to them. I have seen smaller units mounted to the back of the rear view mirror
Back window lower center so you can not only see where the car is going, you can see how fast it was going. Just never want to be in a spot where its a he said/she said kind of thing. Just say, officer, lets look at the video before you make any decisions here. For Autocross, mount one on the window outside the car and play with the angles for a cool shot. Been watching a bunch of car shows and have yet to see one put one in the same spot twice.
I bought a Cobra CDR 840 at Costco for $80. Works very well, and downloads to a PC are easy. It is a 12 volt cigarette plug in and has a battery life of about 15 minutes, so it can be used out of the car for a short time. I wanted something inexpensive to make videos when I sold my car, and it did the trick.
I have 3 of them, one for each vehicle. When we go to Florida in winter, I take one from one of the vehicles I'm not using and mount it in the back window, so I have front and back covered. I been using them for about 3 yrs. I use FineVu CR-500HD w/32GB micro SD cards. There's a lot of brands out there. Check BlackboxMyCar.com, their customer service is great. They're in Canada. I have the one in my 82 mounted in the upper left corner of windshield. Ran the cord down the pillar over to cigarette lighter. The cam I use is only about 1 1/2" dia. and about 2 1/4" long.
