Thrush mufflers
Does anyone have them on their car? What do you think? And do you have a video of them so I can hear what they sound like? I've always gone flow master but want a new sound.

I installed some new old stock vintage Thrush Turbo's exact corvette fit replacement. nice tone not loud I like them.
Flow masters are too loud for my taste, especially a convertible.

I don't have a video, but I've used the Thrush Welded on 4-5 occasions. I recently posted in another thread. I have them (for the second time) on my V8 Jeep Grand Cherokee and they sound very nice. I like a little rumble but nothing crazy. Don't get me wrong, you hear the SUV idling , and driving away that's for sure. It also sounds very deep and "not raspy" when you get on it. The Jeep still retains the factory Cat Convertor and factory exhaust manifolds - which are kind of "header-like", so if you have no converter, shorter exhaust pipes, headers they may sound louder in your application.
I also like to hear just a bit in the interior (what's the use of having a V8 if you don't get a nice smile on your face when driving!!!) , but since my wife takes it to work and I sometimes will take co-workers in it, I don't want it sounding like a "Race Car". My best description is: They sound VERY SIMILAR to the Flowmaster Delta Flow 50's I've used for years. Perfect for me. The construction is basically a knockoff of an older flowmaster design (Baffle-wise I'm speaking).
I've gotten numerous "thumbs up" and comments similar to "I love the way that sounds" at the gas pumps with the Thrush Welded mufflers. I've even gotten a comment from a C5 owner that my wife works with asking why the Grand Cherokee sounds like a muscle car , and his car (stock exhaust) sounds like crap. I'm not too familiar with the earlier C5's but I tend to agree - His 1997 sounds like a bad exhaust leak or hole in the muffler. (I think he has something going on - it sounds very "raspy", not what I would expect from a C5)..... I'd have to take care of that 2 seconds after I bought the car. I've heard a few on the road that sound similar.. Kind of like someone opened the exhaust right after the converters...
I love the Thrush Welded Mufflers. My last Jeep had it installed for about 3 years before it was totaled in an accident and the muffler still looked brand new. Happy with the quality.

I had a pair of strait-thru classic Thrush mufflers on a big block Cutlass back in the day ... I blame my partial hearing loss on this youthful decision! LOL THEY ARE LOUD!!!

My 66 had a 327 and the thrush turbo mufflers, louder than some turbo muffs they had a nice deep tone you could feel and when you got on it they woke up but not in that bone jarring raspy way, if I was even gonna run under car exhaust again it would be a thrush product.

The welded Thrush are built like the flowmasters (Welded Baffles).
The turbo's have perforated pipe on the inside. Many Turbo Mufflers like Thrush/Dynomax usually also have a packing material / fiberglass inside. That's why turbo mufflers eventually start to "wear out", The fiberglass begins to "pack-up" / shift, start to "melt" etc, and then the muffler sound changes.
This is the Thrush Turbo / Dynomax inside :

The13Bats,
I actually have a pair out in the garage that were pretty "well used" but also still sounded good, just like you mention. I've had some that really sounded bad as they got old too. I guess maybe it depends on the application...
I'm sure you remember the ones that Thrush made back in the 80's (and probably before that) that bolted to the header. I think those ones really "wore out" and "blew apart at the seams" from being so darn close to the heat.
If I remember right, they were only like $20 each back then. (Twice as much as the "JC Whittney clone "Cherry Bombs") !!! Big money !!!!
I had a few on my Trans Am and they were mounted "way back" by the rear axle. I think they held up better.
But hey, even the welded flowmasters / welded Thrush etc rot out eventually. (But I don't seem to keep the cars long enough to see that happen) !!!! I've usually moved on to the next project by then !
I still remember the first time A guy in a Z28 told me to listen to his "Suitcase" mufflers. I said "what the heck is a suitcase muffler"???? First time I even heard what they now (still) call that "Flowmaster Sound"...

"Back in the day" I ran a pair of Thrush turbo mufflers. I was very happy with the sound - deep, not loud and the price was what I could afford at that time. If I ever get rid of the Flowmaster 50s I have now, I would consider them again.

In the mid 70's I had the Bad azz Thrush pipes with the Woodie Woodpecker looking character , along with the slapper bars , craggars and Hi Jacker Shocks ....that just set the car off. LOL...They were on my 74 Z28 and were obnoxious loud .......then I got my 74 Stingray and put a set of Cherry Bombs on that honey . My girlfriend claimed she could her me start the car up in my parents garage on quiet morning 1/4 mile away. Her daddy just loved me ....." Not !"

when we still lived in Orlando
When Billy pinto had his shop at the end of my street I heard hot rods all the time,
for a long time each day around 530 if I was outside or windows open I would hear the fellow with the cherry bombs leave work which was actually closer to a mile from me, different shop
Then the same cat gets a hopped up rotary and I could hear that angry wasp with a machinegun sound for about 5 miles.....
I wonder if anyone still runs cherry bombs on c3's
