Default cost comparison ls or big block

Has anyone done a cost comparison between putting in a big block or a ls motor.Pros and cons on both motors.but if you are changing everything over for the swap anyway.whats the overall cost difference?both motors make 450 hp .

Probably not because cost alone as the criteria you express is irrelevant.

I would go with the ls even if it cost substantially more.

Just my .02 but from a cost perspective, the LS swap is going to be $$$ more. If you go with a BB and a carb, It's very close to a direct swap with maybe a change in radiator. LS is going to take more mods, many dependent on what induction system you choose. The caveat being weight, with BB you may need/want to change spring rate etc..

The big block would most likely be cheaper and would certainly be simpler. Both engines will require work to get to 450HP. The LS will also need fuel system improvements and engine management (with tuning).

There is just something about a big block when it fires up. With the LS you have to look at the tachometer to make sure it even started.

You can reduce complexity by going carb msd controlled coil/ ignition on the ls but as stated other is direct drop in. Still will prefer an all aluminum ls over a big block for a street car

BB will cost you about 10k for a properly built motor, and required BB parts.
depending upon HP. and bling.
really 2 different animals.
If you have a vintage/classic car most desire the original style look.
if your going custom, I would go with LS.

If you took an ls engine and changed the intake to accept a carb and normal fuel system wouldn't you have just installed a 350 Small block?

Two completely different things nothing on the old sbc fit an ls series and all aluminum vs all iron. Yes still 350 ci and push rod but that's where it ends.

Ls 350 custom coil covers and air cleaner box

Vs
406 sbc
