I know they make a short water pump for a 73 but is there any difference in the v groove pulleys. I have bead blasted mine primed and painted it and it still looks awful. Since I have an aluminum radiator, no shroud and electric fans I think I am gonna get a chrome pulley.

Skip.
Why not use high build primer, sand it down and put a nice coat of black on it... That high build stuff is a life saver for us in my shop. You apply a couple of heavy coats then block it down, prime and paint and I think it's available in a rattle can now. (I use a gun).
I'm not aware of any shorter pulleys to accommodate the shorter pump. Maybe someone else will know.

My pump sits right against the timing cover I haven`t measured the nose diameter yet. I was just wondering what pump that was long or short. I use high build primer as a final primer before I sand with 500 and spray the car but I have never thought about using it on the pulley. There is so much black under there I just thought a nice chromed pulley would look good.
