I am checking the fluids on my new "previously enjoyed" Corvette.
The oil level is obvious; the power steering fluid has a hot and cold level on it. However, the automatic transmission fluid level is not marked hot or cold, engine on or off. Can someone tell me the proper way to check the AT fluid.
I plan to buy an owners manual next weekend; I do not have the time to buy it prior to that time but want to make sure fluids levels are proper as soon as possible.
Stock transmission dipsticks are marked just like oil dipsticks. If it's not marked, I would make sure that there was at least a reading on the dipstick.

What trans is in the car? Turbo 400?

Yep, you are correct. It is marked with the fill line, but did not say if it should be measured hot or cold, engine running or off.
Other than automatic, I do not know which transmission is in the car. How do I tell the difference?

If you have a C3, a 1968-74 came with the THM-400 trans. THM-350's, thereafter, until 1982 when the THM-700-R4 (overdrive and lockup features) was introduced.
Of course, the trans can get changed to another type, after-the-fact.
