Default Shipper / Transporter Recommendations Needed

Fellow members, I am looking for some assistance with recommendations on a shipper that can assist me with shipping a non-running 1972 project from CA to IN. At this point I have emailed Jim at Intercity, and have a call in to DAS (which I have used in the past), but would like to check as many known "reputable" shippers as possible to get the best price while not sacrificing the quality of the move.

Many thanks in advance, I'm all ears!

Dave

Hi Dave,
There are more than a few threads about member's experiences with various shippers.
If you put 'shippers' in the search field at the "Search Forum" tab you'll quickly see a couple of hundred threads.
You'll likely find some interesting and informative. Some are quite recent.
Worth a try?
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Hi Alan,

Thanks for the tip. Actually, I did do that, but was not able to readily find info on people who have had experience with companies shipping non-runners. Maybe these old eyes are bad and I missed something (???) Heck, it wouldn't be the first time...just ask my wife!

Hi Dave,
I did read that you said 'non-runner' but I'd think while not exactly common, shippers likely have some experience with cars that don't run.
Is it at least a 'roller'?
I looked at the Intercity Lines 'Request For Shipping Form' and I see there's a specific question about whether the car runs or not, and it appears there is a fee schedule for non running cars.
I'd think other carriers are similarly familiar with moving cars that don't run.
Again… good luck!
Regards,
Alan

Hey Alan,

Yes, it's a roller. I'm wanting to talk to these folks one on one. Like I said, I did email Jim at Intercity, and I found through my research here on the forum regarding shippers, that they offer a discount to forum members...most likely one that would only be given over the phone and not online. Would that apply to non-runners? Only the phone call will tell...and hopefully I'll find that out tomorrow.

I got a discount the last time I shipped via DAS...but that discount was only given over the phone, and it was because I was a repeat customer. I'm waiting on a call back from them as well tomorrow.

I'm simply looking for anyone who can lend a recommendation on a shipper they have used to ship their non-runners, whether it be in addition to, or in regards to the two I mentioned. It never hurts to try expand your search, based on the real-life experience of others. Shoot, I can pick shipping companies off the internet all day, call them and listen to their pitches and promises, but nothing beats the recommendation of someone who has dealt with a particular business and had a positive experience that comes with a recommendation.

Thanks for the well wishes Alan, I'm sure it will all work out in the end.

Dave
