Definetly a head scratcher. I would do as previously stated and remove the rubber brake line and see if you can pump fluid through it. Its a place to start.

Then maybe borrow a power bleeder
Good luck
I'm going to purchase the Motive 0105..

I'll let folks know how it goes using that bleeder.

Will the rectangular plate version work on my car

Should work fine on your stock MC. You might want to do a search on Motive here in C3. Lots of tricks to make it work even better. For starters, lose the crappy chain and hooks and use c-clamps.

During my restoration, I installed brand new master cylinder....did NOT "Bench" bleed it, already had it installed before I read about it. ALL new brake hard lines and flex hoses. I gravity bled it for a day or so, followed by Mity Vac sucking in no particular order.

Brakes are as solid as a 1977 can be, and braking action is great. IF, and I say IF, a Motive FLow pressure bleeder would make them more solid, I guess it would be better, but the brakes feels solid enough. I think it is true that GM brakes in this era had more of a soft pedal feel on initial push, but I would not claim to know this for a fact.

What I do know is that I have read lots of people having problems getting Corvette brakes to bleed, but it seemed to be quite easy with the Mity Vac....and remember this was bone dry system to start. I was all wound up worrying about it, and it was no issue.

Question..

If I use the Motive Bleeder will I have to bleed the MC prior to using?

I am now using the Motive Power Bleeder and I am getting clear brake Fluid out of each bleeder valve..... =however.. still no pedal..

I'm thinking it's the master cylinder that's not working properly... I did not bench bleed the MC but I thought the Motive would push the air out..

Any thoughts on what I should do from this point? MC rebuild... and bench bleed?

Thanks for your help

I would think there is no air left in the master cylinder. Look behind your carpet and see if its wet. It could be seal is gone and your losing fluid or pulling air into the master cylinder there. How old is you MC?

It's old .. but was working before I removed it around a year ago.

I am going to take the MC off and attempt to bench bleed it today.

That should let me know if my MC is good or bad.

I read a post by Dub in another thread to push the piston in 1 inch only when you are pumping it

You can bleed the MC with it on the car. That's the way I did mine and worked fine.

Strange.

Try this. Bleed in this order if you havent been.
Its what I had to do to get reliable pedal.
Passenger side rear outboard bleed
Passenger side rear inboard bleed
Drivers side rear outboard bleed
Drivers side rear inboard bleed
Front passenger
Front drivers

Good luck

i am still having issues with mine. I have the MityVac and still can't get a firm pedal. Do the Speed Bleeders replacement bleeder screws really work?
