Default Newbie C3 question

I have made my hello's in the intro page, I have finally purchased, traded actually, for a really good shape '80 model. I'm just starting to get to work on it. I have a generic type question: whats the deal with the gap between the top of the fender and the door?? I have a good gap between the rear of the doors and the body, and a good gap between door and fender at the bottom but gets much larger as it goes up. I have seen this in a bunch of pictures of C3's. Is there a bushing or something at the front that gets flattened with age, or???????

I'm no expert but guys I've talked to say there was poor quality control back in the day and many c3s came out of the factory with the gaps off

I can't speak for yours but many times it was just because it was involved in an accident and some part of the front end was damaged and replaced . Repairing the fiberglass on a corvette takes special skills to attach the parts before the glue sets up and many times the person doing the work doesn't have those skills. Unlike bolted on fenders on other cars that you can re-adjust with a corvette you get one shot at it.
