Hey guys I'm pulling the engine out of my 76 and doing a mild build on it but my question is where should I support the trans from when taking engine out? Across the front of the pan with wood?
I usually put 2 bolts in the top of the bellhousing and then a 2x4 across the inner lip of the fenders. Then tie it up with some rope. This way you can still roll the car around if you have to. Wrap some rags around the 2x4.

Except.... (let me channel my inner Bubba)...and say I use coat hanger wire
I put a small floor jack under mine, until I got the motor on the stand, and pulled it out.
Think about since it's so close, go ahead and reseal it. Unless it's a recent build on the trans. Just my thoughts. But, I've been known to way overbuild stuff. I don't have too many issues when I'm done, if that's any consequence.....lol
