I did this for a friend of mine last year on his 74.

Its easy. The mirror should come with a template to show
you where to drill the holes in the fiberglass. Once drilled, we popped in the 2 rubber well nuts that came with it and then screwed the metal mirror mount to them.

Go easy with the drill, don't let it "walk" up the door.

Good luck.

Don't forget to measure the drivers door to get them symmetrical, both fore and aft, and elevation measurements

With the template it is pretty simple.

Place some painter tape under the template. Drill a very small pilot hole to reduce the bit walk.

Measure the drivers said like said for a better match. Pretty easy.

Here is a picture of the right side mirror I installed on my 73 last summer. Follow all the advice given in the previous posts and it will come out nice. I suggest measuring the location of the left side mirror and compare it to what the right side template indicates. You might want to adjust it slightly so both mirrors look to be in the same position relative to the window, when viewed from the front/back of the car.
I bought the made in USA mirror (not date coded) from Willcox. I am very happy with it.

make sure you have the special (rubber well) attaching nuts, before you get started.

If you follow the advice given so far, on a scale of 1-10, 1 being easiest, it's a 1.
