I a trying to get my hood adjusted and no matter what I do it is never right. I have tried all of the adjustments and I still have to close my hood from the left side and then pull it toward me to get it to close without hitting on the right side. I have tried the hood fastners and the ones where the hinge mounts onto the body. My only other option is to take a spare hinge and mill out the holes a little longer but I shouldn`t have to do that. An suggestions?
You might just need to do that....mill out the holes in the hinge.
What year is your Corvette? Not all hoods and linkages are the same.
I am not there to see what you are doing...and not knowing what year it is...All I can say is that IF the hood hinges are NOT good and solid in regards to the pivot rivet....you are wasting your time.
Also...I remove any latch, guide pin that would effect how the hood corms down so I can get the gaps set FIRST.
Then when I have the hood opening and hood fitting good. I start to set and adjust any cowl part so the hood can latch.
And why I need to know what year you have IS important because the long hoods of a 1975-1976 with the hood grille are actually weaker and heavier and can twist IF they are broken and the hood does not act the same as that of a 1982 hood or a hood for a 1972.
And YES...I have had to modify NUMEROUS hood hinges due to previous damage or due to the car being jacked up and jack stand being placed in the wrong area and the front clip and cowl area get damaged and can actually case the hood catches on the cowl to move or can move manually by hand due to weakened firewall/cowl....SO...it is possible.
Then the left pin needs to be adjusted so it does not push the hood over....And that is assuming that the hood is correctly aligned....along with you hood hinges being good.
