If you say it real fast and don't look too close that sounds like it actually might work.
I only changed the inner wire on mine so I'm not sure how far up the spiral sleeve actually goes once past the fuse block, I don't thing it reaches the rubber grommet where the wire comes out but it must be pretty close as the wire found it's way through the grommet easy.

My inner wire assembly arrives tomorrow. So this should be fun.
Before you hook it up to the latch, make sure the cable moves freely. Mine always "stuck" and after the hood popped I had to push the handle back in. Never thought about it (figured that's the way it worked) until I took everything out saw that the wire was actually bent a couple of places and would wedged somewhat in the grommet.
That little spring wasn't doing anything to pull the wire back when you let go of the handle.
New one works perfect and moves freely, what a difference
