Default 77 tilt/tele question

on my 77 tilt/tele column there are two rods connected to the key, one for the actual ignition switch and one connected to a second switch (maybe green) that I seem to be missing, what is the second (maybe green) switch for and are they available anywhere??? thanks in advance!!

YES...there is ONE rod that goes to the electrical ignition switch that is secured to the column mast jacket.

The other rod is for you HIGH /LOW beam switch for you headlights.

The HIGH/LOW beam switches are still available....as for the rod you need...I ( or someone else) will have to look in a GM parts illustration manual ( which I have one) and see if that rod is SPECIFIC to your year model...which it can be....but I am not sure 100%.

I know I will ahve ( or should have)this rod for a 1978 to 1982 tele/tilt column...and I do have a 1977 column...but I do not want to tear it apart and not have it complete. There is also another part that is needed in conjunction with this rod...and I should have the black plastic part....that allows the turn signal lever to be pulled back and actuate the rod and get you HIGH/LOW beam switch to work.

ALSO...IF you have the rod...and you grab the rod and force is slight towards the steering wheel...and then with your other hand have it on your turn signal lever...and pull back on the turn signal lever (towards YOU if you were sitting in the seat)...and the ROD moves...you are OK and installing the new switch and getting it adjusted will do it for you....because in the photo of the one I sent the link of....you can see the metal pin that is centering this switch so it makes it easy to install.

HOPEFULLY the bolts that hold your ignition switch have not been messed with...because ONE of them should be a stud/bolt...where there is a threaded stud sticking up so you can place the new switch on it and install a nut....and the other fastener for the new switch is a bolt.

That stud/bolt is used to initially secure and hold your ignition switch in its correct position.

here is what I have, the third pic is an older column with the two screws, am I to understand the ignition switch shares the bolt/stud you mentioned with the hi/low beam switch? I don`t see any other holes in my column to mount the hi/low switch though

This is a newer car, but it is pretty much the same. Ignition at the top, then dimmer, and you see the stud Dub is talking about on the left. Yellow arrow points at dimmer rod.
