Default light lenses

is it possible that 69 used 68 lenses on the front signals and the red taillights? my back ups are 69 but the rest are 68

The design and first year used, is molded into the GM lenses. So 68 and 69 lenses have the year 68 molded on them. In 69 GM cheapened the Corvette and made a new back-up lens to replace the inner 68 tail light. My old MTD maintenance boss worked at the Fisher Guide plant in Dayton,Ohio that made the GM metal trim parts and the lenses. Lou.

Hi b,
Loup is right.
The outer tail/brake lights should have the 1968 molded into them, but the inner backup lens would have a 1969 date.
The front parking light lenses were clear with an amber bulb.
The front side marker lenses were clear with amber bulb in 1968, but amber with clear bulbs in 69.
Regards,
Alan

Yes, the front turn signal lenses were designed for the 1968 federal standards. So 68 and 69 have the 68 in the lens. The license plate lamp lens also has a number on it. All of the lenses are coded this way for the federal safety standard the year they were designed. Lou.
