I plan to replace the exhaust system on my 71 coupe. I have Race Ramps, but might need to lift the rear of the car to access the whole system. What, if any precautions must I take? Where is the best place to lift the rear of the car with my floor jack?
Also, I am thinking about getting a chambered exhaust with chambered mufflers. Since the car is pretty original, except for the black exterior, is this a mistake? Should I just go with an "original" exhaust setup?
I put chambered exhaust on my stock 72....I love the sound. See below for jacking points and where to place jack stands. I'll post a video after the instal as well.
Hard to say really.....I cut the exhaust off and then spent the better part of the weekend cleaning all the years of oil and grease out from under it....I also wrapped part of the pipes to help with the interior heat. Should be able to knock it out in a day or so.
I have a few post on my blog I made during the install....See those links below.
