I think this is the most likely answer. My interior was gutted when I bought the car, and I had no previous Corvette experience..... but the "re-pop" lenses I bought are distinctly a vibrant blue and red.

I had a 1968 C3 when it was only 4+ years old; and the colors of those lenses were about the same as the lenses on the 45 year-old 1971 coupe that I have now. There might be a little bit of yellowing of the plastic (all of the lenses), but intensity of the red and blue lenses seem to be the same.
