Took my 72 Vette to an air cond guy yesterday to get it re-gassed and was hoping to get the air cond working. After re-gassing, the pipe coming off the compressor was going extremely cold, however nothing else went cold. Don't think this air cond has worked for a very long time. Car came from Chicago to Australia in 2014 where it spent 33 years of it's life.
The air cond guy seems to think its either the TX valve or the POA valve that is stuffed, or maybe both.
Is there anything I can do to eliminate which one might be the problem?
And could someone point me in the right direction to buy these parts, preferrably with original part numbers on them as the car is all matching numbers?
Sounds like the system is freezing up... On your car a POA upgrade might be a better choice. I don't carry it but Old air makes a POA upgrade that should do you good.
We don't sell enough of their stuff to offer you a discount I'm sorry but you might contact them with your question, they are a top shelf company to deal with. Maybe I'll catch you the next time..

Thanks for that info. I've sent an email to Old Air and am awaiting their response.
Like I said I'd like to keep the car original as possible. Another option might be to get the original POA valve rebuilt as it might be a lot cheaper than a NOS or rebuilt one from the States.
Would love to know how I can eliminate whether the TX or POA valve is the problem so I can order the TX valve from the States if indeed that is the issue?
Your "A/C guy" should know. If he doesn't, find a new "A/C guy".
P.S. It could be that he just overfilled the system. Did he actually hook up any gauges to your system so he could read line pressures?
He's sure its either the TX or POA valve however I couldn't leave the car with him as he needs the car for more time. I plan to leave the car with him for a whole day probably next week.
This AC system hasn't worked in years nor been re-gassed in a very long time.
When he re-gassed it he did have gauges so he could monitor it. I just preferred to get some help here if I could as to hopefully find whether it was the TX or POA valve. Then I could order the parts from the U.S which would take a week to get here before I take the car back to him.
I emailed Old Air but still waiting to here back from them.

Just wanted to let you guys know. After I got my air cond guy to do his work my air cond is all fixed. He removed the POA valve and put in a new TX valve. Regassed the system again and now the air cond works perfectly. Very happy customer.
I blew an air cond hose yesterday lol. Looking at the hose it was an extremely old hose so will have to be replaced and re gassed as well. If there was too much gas installed, would that cause something like this?
