Have 1972 Corvette, stock 350. Starter was clicking before engaging so I replaced the solenoid. Now it won't turn the starter at all. Battery has 12.5 volts. 11.9 volts to battery cable lug on solenoid. With the wire disconnected from the S terminal it reads 11.65 volts. With the wire connected to the S terminal it reads 6.5 volts. Starter works great when using remote starter switch. What do you think the problem is? Thanks for your help.
Yes the key is in the start position when checking voltage. I have stripped off the wire wrap around the wires that run to the starter, everything looks good. And all did work just fine before I replaced the solenoid.
