I sold my 1976 Corvette some years ago, and regret it. I have the Vin number. Is it possible to locate the current owner?
Start by just Googling the VIN number. I did that out of morbid curiousity one time with the VIN from an old 72 LT1 I sold and I actually got a hit on a dealer site that was selling it, as well as one of the C3 registry sites. Wasn't interested in contacting or finding the new owner, but I am sure with those starting points I could have hunted something down.

What state did you sell it in, how long ago, check the c3registry. Some one here may own it. If not you can probably pay the dmv or rmv to investigate it. Others have asked the same question, those are usually the answers
I recently purchased a 1972 Auto Coupe and I'd like to find previous owner(s). I tried the Google method, and came up with the person I bought it from, but nothing else. Is there anywhere else I can go beside the DMV of the state I bought it in?
Hi LB,
You might consider using the NCRS Shipping Data Report Service.
There is information on many many cars but not all cars…. "you pay your money and take your chance"
The information consists of the dealer code, dealer zone number, dealer name and dealer address (if available) and the date the car was produced. No other information or any types of documents are available.
It's a way to start tracking from the 'other end' of the car's history.
There are also a few individuals who trace a car's history as a business.
Regards,
Alan
I did a trace on my 78 simply by filling out a form off my state's DMV site, and paying $2.50. Gave me all owners as far back as their records existed.

Alan, I sent in for that information recently and anxiously await it to see what it contains. I hope it has things that will help me.
