I have recently purchased somewhat of a barn find. 1969 numbers matching 427 4speed with factory air . It's a 390 hp . I'm trying to decode the transmission. It is P9A04A. Not sure why the A is at the end of sequence. Thought would be after the P. Any input ?

Thanks so much ! Next on the agenda is the rear end . Thought I would get lucky and find the tank sticker but tank has been replaced . Older lady in Raleigh has had the car since October of 78 but she didnt have any documentation.

Just take a pic of the bottom of the rear end. It'll be stamped with all the information you need to de-code it. (A lot of times the M-20 was paired up with 3.36 gears.)
Heres one of the pics after i did a little polishing and took off the aftermarket sidepipes. Added new tires . Bought from an older lady near Raleigh that had owned the car since October of 1978. She had the interior redone and 1 repaint nearly 10 years ago . Car has been in her cousins garage for the last several years and not been driven as she was unable to get in and out of it . I was not expecting the paint to be anywhere close to this but was pleasantly surprised! Not sure its a true (barnfind) but it was pretty neat to find one in this shape that had been put back fir a few years

Hi NC,
Well that's quite a nice looking 69 coupe!
It appears it was pretty carefully stored in a pretty nice barn!
I hope it turns out to be a special as it looks!
Regards,
Alan
If you haven't had a chance to look at at the rear differential stamps here's an example from a 71.
For 71 the ratio code returned to 2 letters. LR….3.36:1P
The Julian date is 12, thus a differential assembled during the second the week of January 1971 for a mid-January built car.
Plant: W….Warren
Source: E….Eaton
Shift: 1
Hey thanks ! Yea not sure it qualifies for a true barn find . Its definitely been out of circulation for several years . And yes i aporeciate the rear end advice . I will check that out . Thanks
