Has anybody upgrade there seats?
I have a 71 and looking to upgrade to a late c3 or a c4 seat.
Would this be an easy swap or a big pain in the but?
thanks
Jim
Can't speak for C4 seats, but the 79-82 split back seats will swap using your 71 seat tracks. The exception is the 81-82 power driver's seat. These will not swap without modifying the floor pan in your car.
I recently fitted C4 seats to my '70 You use the original tracks from the C3 seats and have to make adapter plates for the rear mounting holes of the C4 seats to the C3 tracks.
Pics is after fitting seats but before I had them recoloured.
You guys with the Pontiac seats.
They don't look like they have much for lumbar support, are they comfortable?
I find them way more comfortable than the original seats from 1977.
The nice thing about the upholstery kit is that you can add a little padding in strategic locations to suit yourself.

Ive got c5 seats ive been messing with. Im buying some universal tracks from summit and the mounting tabs from paragon to make some lower tracks. The locking system on the 68 tracks wouldnt let the seat fit flush, and the brackets I made had it sitting just a bit high with the new foam in the seats. My head was just about even with the top of the wind shield. I would have preferred the fiero seats with mr mikes covers but they are very rare nowadays
The only issue is they sit you about 2" up from the originals. At least they did on my 74.
You will need a set of seats and a set of brackets to adapt the seats to the sliders. I got mine from a member here, Binnie. Worked perfectly for 100.00.
I recovered mine using Mr. Mikes covers. Never recovered anything in my life, was easy to do, just take your time.
I went from the original vinyl mesh seats in my 75, to black leather 76 seats. That was an improvement, but not even close to how much nicer the C5 seats are. I know there are several threads here about adapting seats from other model years. I have not done this, but after sitting in my 01 C5, I'd never go back to a stock C3 seat. Ever.
I went with Pontiac Fiero seats. Mr. Mike was able to accommodate my father's signature into the leather. They are not uncomfortable to me and they fit like a glove.

I have seats from a 78 Pace Car, the style used in later C3s, and they are much nicer than original stock 78 seats. Passenger seat will lay flat and makes putting/getting things out of the back much easier.

I feel bad...I guess I don't drive my '72 enough for my original seats to become uncomfortable....They feel pretty good to me but I don't drive mine as often as I would like...It spends too much time in the air on jackstands.
I find the stock seats to be as comfortable as a seat can be. I could sit in it all day, and have. Not sure why people think and "upgrade" is needed. But heh, its your car.

I Agree!! people talk about them being uncomfortable. To me they were not uncomfortable ! I just wanted a different look.
