Default Squeaky Brake Pedal

I have a 1977 Corvette and am the original owner. Lately, the brake pedal is driving me crazy, as it squeaks loudly when the brake is depressed and squeaks the same way when the brake pedal returns. It is almost like the creaking sound of an old door opening or shutting, but annoyingly loud. My wife kept saying what is that horrible noise. My mechanic sprayed some WD by the rod but said that there was an accordion type boot there, and he was in a hurry in any event. The WD-40 did nothing, but I don't know exactly where he squirted the oil. I feel that the proper area is not receiving any grease/oil. The obnoxious sound is definitely in the brake pedal rod, and is absolutely in that spot under the dash. Any suggestions, like white lithium grease, or must the accordion boot come off, would be greatly appreciated? Thank you. Bob

I would start by pulling the pin on the brake rod and lubing the bushing with some white lithium grease . If it is power brakes , it could be a booster going bad. You would still hear that sound coming through the rubber boot.
