Default Value of 77 frame

I found a relatively good looking 77 frame. I don't have pictures, sorry.
There are no holes or flaking rust spots near the rear wheel.
The engine compartment hasn't had a hood on it for awhile so there is surface rust on the frame in that area.
It still has a pretty good looking bird cage on it too, there was no rust in any of the body mount locations viewed from interior and through the service hole in rear wheel well.
Currently the frame is destined for the crusher.

Assuming there is no frame damage and it is relatively free of serious rust what is this frame worth? There would be a good amount of work involved in freeing it up and the current owner wants some money for it. I want to know if it's worth my time since I think it is a good looking frame and someone might want it.

If ya'll think it's remotely worth it, then I'll get pictures and stuff.

At one time there was a place here in Houston that had C3 frames stacked like cord wood. It has been years since I last visited them. They were asking $900 for them back then, I think.

Sounds to me like you have more than just a frame.

Sounds like an odd situation...is the frame still on a body? And the body is junk, so everything is crusher-bound? Or is he keeping the body? When you say it would "be a good amount of work involved in freeing it up ", I get confused.

To answer your question, it would be an awful shame to scrap the frame. While 1977 isn't one of those years that is real high in the "its worth it to replace the frame" category, it certainly isn't without value.

Not LOTS of value, but value.

If it is a solid frame...surface rust, but solid...and was offered for sale on this forum, I would be surprised if it would last too long at $400 or so.

If I had it just laying around, it'd be silly not to score a few bones. If it is a 12+ hour ordeal to get the frame in the first place, then it probably isn't worth the effort. Your call.

Another thought is to see if there is a Corvette restorer anywhere near you. I'm sure they'd be interested in it. A little elbow grease and some powder coating and it could/would be resold for $2,000, plus or minus. Not particularly cost effective if you have to pay someone to do all the work, but pretty low hanging fruit for someone with the equipment, interest, and time.
