Default side pipe burn

I love my hookers but exiting the car can be a challenge for passengers
Looking for cover suggestions ...

I like sidepipes too. Had my car for 1 hour, took my daughter for a ride. She got out and hit her leg and got second degree burns. I now have under the car exhaust.

They look great. I gave mine away and went back to hedman headers and 2.5 pipes out the back. Passenger burns were one reason.

I use shields on mine now after my wife burned her leg getting out of our car. The shields put about an inch of space between the pipe and your legs and though they get warm they won't treat your legs like they are a steak on the grille.

Here are the parts with the inserts on the left, sidepipes and shields on the right.

All are matte black for the Road Race Replica I am building and shown here. This car debuts this Spring.

Save your legs, buy the shields.

Factory side pipes do not burn. Evidently better engineering was employed.

Factory side pipes used shields. Take the shields off and they will burn.

Whoa whoa whoa!!!!! Sorry to jump in, but no comments on the goergeous racer from anyone, are you guys kidding me!!!! My eyes nearly feel out out my head!!! That thing should have a E.D. warning after it... if your ere@@@ion should last more than four hours, you need more gas. Wow. Back to the subject... I have those fiberglass stock looking 69 covers and I can reach out and touch that cover while its running and its warm. Never a burn. Maybe someone can start a business making fiberglass covers. Any way I'm putting the oem chrome covers on and hope they dont get hot. Good luck guys!!

ALLC34ME, can you post another thread with a right up on your work, your car is gorgeous!!

Thank you. Finalizing them now. The SUNOCO will be all white over the red, same with the tri-arrow Seven Wraps logo. Otherwise it will look like this shortly. Car is up on the lift now and coming down today to lay in the exterior logo's, exterior trim details including new front light lenses, and to fit up the side pipes and measure for bung placement. Winter is here, time to get cracking.

I like the look of these so I just ordered a set and will have them powder coated in black for my racer. Nice look. Thank you.

i got some header wrap and wrapped around the outside of my baffles before i put them in the pipes, on a hot summer day you can drive for an hour and still put your hand on them without burning yourself.

i think hookers have the same baffle setup as dougs so you could do that if you dont like the look of the standoff covers.

I'm pretty happy with these.. Not issues at all. I have 3 kids getting in and out of the car.. I just make sure they are careful. These will only get warm.

Stove pipe side pipes are for race Corvettes NOT drivers. Don't look that great either like the big exhaust pipes on the little 4 bangers kids drive.

Have to disagree with kenba on that. A corvette looks like it should with headers and side pipes, in my opinion. But It is up to each person to make that decision. I love my header/side pipes. I was raised in Sebring Florida and went to all of 12 hour races there since 1966, so I guess it is instilled in me, "Corvette=headers/side pipes". Mine are ceramic coated and do get hot, but I have trained myself to get out without touching them. My 63 and 69 Corvettes had them to so they are not an issue with me.
