Default Does this car exist

I am wondering if there is a real, genuine 1969 L88 coupe in Daytona Yellow with standard black interior.

Basically, I am wondering if there is a real 69 L88 like this:

19437 CORVETTE COUPE 02984AA DAYTONA YELLOW

02ZQ4AA Trim STANDARD TRIM
02L88AA Engine SUPER TURBO-JET 427 V8
Air Con.
02K66BA Transistor Ign. FULL-TRANSISTOR IGNITION
02G81TA Axle POSITRACTION AXLE 411 RATIO
02M22AB SPECIAL 4-SPEED TRANSMISSION
02PU9AA Tires F70X15 WHITE LETTER TIRES
Conv. Top
Aux. Top
Radio
Comfort & Con.
02A01AA SOFT-RAY TINTED GLASS
02F41AB SPECIAL-PURPOSE SUSPENSION
02GS5AA POSITRACTION AXLE 411 RATIO
02J50WA POWER BRAKES
02J56AB SPECIAL BRAKE SYSTEM
02N14AA SIDE-MOUNTED EXHAUST SYSTEM
02N37AA TILT-TELESCOPE STEERING WHEEL
02TJ2AA FRONT FENDER LOUVER TRIM
O2UA6AA AUDIO ALARM SYSTEM

An L88 twin of the yellow ZL1 car.

Anybody know if such a car exists?

solid lifter engines were not available with air, plus no radio or heater either with the 88 engine....I built my own L`88 with a heater and radio in 1968 {from my 68 435 car}. with a over the counter new L`88 engine

Its available too

The tank sticker as presented here in typed format is somewhat misleading.

The "Air Con" does not signify this car has A/C. It is only a sub-head for the tank sticker. All tank stickers had this sub-head. If the car had A/C, you would see the option C60 to the left of the sub-head.

Here is a clear example of a tank sticker without A/C ... (scroll down to the 8th reply)

Ed has put together a composite tank sticker for a hypothetical car... He is not saying the car has air conditioning, only that the tank sticker itself would be hard printed for that line (obviously, it would be blank for any solid lifter big block). His format is correct.

L-88s built in 1967 were required to be equipped with C-48 heater delete. All 1968 and 1969 L-88s were equipped with heaters. Federal law required all 48 state cars to have a working defroster beginning in 1968... Which for most cars, required a working heater. All Corvettes beginning with the 1968 model were equipped with a heater regardless of where they were sold... Just wasn't worth designing a heater delete option for a low/no volume option.

I posted the federal regulation regarding this years ago on this forum... A search should turn it up if you wish to see the "legal-ese" on this subject.

Regards,

Stan Falenski

I see one mentioned in the Bloomington Gold L88 Invasion booklet from 2008:

Correct, you and Rowdy Rat got it right.

I am just wondering if there is a L88 twin the the yellow ZL1, minus the aluminum block, of course. If not, how close can we get with a real car?

I was thinking the Canadian car might be a close match, but no side exhaust, fender louvers, or 411 rear end.

As others have pointed out, the 1968 and 1969 L-88 Corvettes came with a heater/defroster. My 1969 L-88 also came from the factory with a AM/FM radio as I drove it as a daily driver before it became a RACE car

I suspect that the yellow 69 ZL1 also has a heater / defroster (standard equipment on Corvettes, right).

Ed,

Of the six Daytona yellow L-88s in my survey, only two of them could potentially fit your criteria (two of the six are automatics and of the remaining four, two of those are too early for side exhaust). Unfortunately, I don't have any notes on options for these cars.

Regards,

Stan

Thanks Stan;

This was just an exercise in fantasy.

Dreaming of bookends, matching 69 yellow L88 cars, with one having the aluminum block ZL1, otherwise, pretty much identical cars.
