Default Which One ?

Moving on to the interior . Both doors and seats need to be redone . If you only had the money to do one set , which one would you do first ?

Hi un,
For no particular reason…. seats.
Well maybe because it'll be a little more comfortable to ride in?
Regards,
Alan

How about the door panel and seat on one side?!?

This is a personal issue. Which do you want to do? Have you considered waiting until you can do both? What about carpet?

My car has cloth seats and door panels .In 76 I think there was only 900 made with the cloth seats . Been try to find aftermarket seats that I cam just swap out and bolt in but don't know if they exist . Want to try to spend less then 500 to get them done .

Post your trim tag code. I believe only vinyl and leather upholstery were offered for 76.

It doesn't seem like you are worried about originality so you might consider a set of '79 and newer C3 seats. That budget may be a little light to reach your goal though.

Maybe I miss read it but I saw some where that they made some with a cloth interiors . I have had the car for 30 years and it has red cloth seats and red cloth door panels . Also I have seen pictures of other cars that looked the same . Car is snowed in and won't get out until April .

Cant find anything on my seats . Maybe they were changed , wonder why . The seats in the car now lock back and have a chrome push button about 6 inches from the top on the back to allow them to tip forward . Had never though about it before is this the way stock seats work ? .

Can't findwere I saw some 1976 corvettes were built with cloth seats . But I did fine where it said some late model 76s where available with 1977 interior parts which did have cloth seats .
If they weren't standard I wonder why someone would change door panels and seats on a car that was 9 years old at the time and where did they get the cloth door panels.

You might want to give the folks at Al Knoch a call and talk to them. If anyone would know what you should have I believe they would. I know that Al has some upholstery from original cars that they use as samples and patterns to ensure originality as much as possible. They're great folks to work with and always seem eager to assist.

Back in the 70's a friend and I had nearly identical '77 Corvettes. He had the cloth inserts and felt they were much more comfortable in summer and winter than the standard leather. I do not recall that he had cloth door panels however. I know he still has the same car and would certainly know the answer to the question. If you are interested in contacting him you can PM me.

Good luck... GUSTO

He replied that there was some made in the firethorn cloth in 76 . But they were out of material and not going to purchase more because of small demand . But if I wanted he would send some red from what was used in 78 for me to compare .

Just my $.02 worth and not knowing how long between the two there'll be... I'd do the door panels first, then the seats. If you're like me, they'll be more time lapse from one to the other so if the seats are done last, they'd be no wear and tear on them...making the interior look great when finished!

Hope that made sense...
