Unless I am missing something it would seem this car would be better suited to be crossing a high end auction block rather being sold at a car dealership? described by seller as "appears to be in an un-restored condition"
Hi,
After a quick look the documentation seems to consist of the console data plate and the NCRS Shipping Report that indicates that a car with that VIN was delivered to the Corporate Office.
Regards,
Alan
It's been repainted, so there goes the "unrestored" claim. Look at the area in front of the cowl panel. Its painted white. It should be black from the factory. Only the very first few thousand cars had that panel body color.
Am I missing something here, too??? I am no expert.
Being unrestored - have the doors (exterior mirror position) and interior door panels been changed?? - just by going off the serial number. Same with the rocker mouldings??

Hi bkv3,
I guess the idea is that it was a regular 68 production car that had some pre-production 69 parts put on it at Mr.Earls request?
I think the red inner fenders are just….silly.

but not surprising based on some of the stories about the idiosyncrasies of Mr. Earl and Mr. Mitchell.
Nice 68. The story here is where has the car been since Mr. Earl passed away.
True, they mention its low mileage at only 60K, I would think that for this car that is rather high mileage and shows it hasn't been treated as a museum piece.

The milage was stated at 69k, and I agree, thats fairly high. At least I can tell for sure that the redline tires are repros. The interior looks incredible for 69k miles.
So, I'm a top tier executive with GM and can have ANY car I want. I grab myself a base engine vette. Really???
It definitely leads to more questions. You would think he would want an L-88 or at least a 435!
Maybe he was looking for a base coupe that the wife could drive....I mean it is a coupe....and an automatic...sounds like a girls car to me (no offense to anyone owning one of these)!

Then maybe it's Mrs. Earl's car and has no additional value.
