What model year Corvette did you purchase?

Google says 14015445 indicates a 454, possibly a truck block. It was not used in Corvettes.

ai29 is likely to be a casting date.

GM3P CF0 could be the block mold number.

Hi tf,
France!!!!
Look for some 'stamped' information on the pad located in front of the right side head….as WES shows.
It will help identify what engine is in your 72!
Merry Christmas!
Regards,
Alan

One group describes when the engine was assembled and in what configuration, and the other is the partial vehicle identification number for the vehicle the engine was first installed in.

Default Nice Corvette and Congratulations!!!

Nice Corvette and Congratulations!!! Enjoy!!!

I have a 14015445 in my 68 Corvette, 454, runs great and fun driver. At the moment it is "dressed" like a 427 with trimmings and looks like a 427 until you start looking at numbers, ha!

Per some research, this is a Mark IV truck block from 1978 to 1990, could be a 2 bolt or 4 bolt main. Pretty common and used in a lot of things.

Hope this helps and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to You!!!

BTW, here is the link to one source:
http://www.mortec.com/bbc.htm

And another with some conflicting info:
http://www.nastyz28.com/bbcmenu.php

And here is some truck vin info, which may or may not be helpful if you can read your vin:
http://www.chuckschevytruckpages.com/73-87specs.html

and finally:
-14015445
-ai29
-GM3P CF0

Mine is the same except my middle set is "F159" which I think means June 15th for either 1979 or 1989, I can not find how to identify which decade. Yours might be A129 for which I would guess is Jan 12th day and either 1979 or 1989????
Please let me know if you find out more.

Thank's guys !

You have a lot of chance living in america. Here in France, it's very expensive to buy corvette parts from US (travel + tax + tax....)

Next month, i will maybe buy Holley Sniper EFI or new 750 cfm carburetor and new battery (optima sure, but yellow or red ? )

20mercury : Thank's for the informations, i will continu investigation about our engine, and go back to you if i find new information

PS : sorry for my bad american speaking

I'd go with EFI considering the crazy gas price seen in Europe.

Nice car, and welcome to the forum.

you'r right, gas price is very expensive. it's a hard life driving big block in Europe.

About EFI, really less gas as carburator (some CFM) ?

Of course. Modern EFI will not send raw gas out the tailpipe the same as any carb. You will gain driveability.

Carbs are only good if you are looking for an OEM look, or for nostalgia.
