I've used Intercity Lines to transport my car out of Connecticut with good results. The drivers will give a courtesy call when close to their pickup and delivery time.
I just did some quoting and was referred to Passport by another forum member, they were $869 vs $999-1200 for a couple other major lines I had quote, 290 mile distance. I think we are going to use a private hauler w/24ft trailer to save a little more and mainly for easier unloading vs dealing with a tractor trailer and having to unload down the road and driving the car on messy roads. (No way a big rig is getting down drive in Jan)

What private hauler are you considering using? It seems finding a private hauler is hard, you usually end up talking to a broker, which raises the prices. If you can go direct with an individual that would be much better.

I used horseless carriage from CO to FL - great company to work with. They provided covered transport for a bit over a grand if I remember correctly. I thought it was a pretty good deal considering covered and insured half way across the country.
